Devil’s Advocate
Dinara Yousupova, founder of YOUSUPOVA design, shared the inspiration behind this project, drawn from her favorite film, The Devil's Advocate
The Story Behind the Project
"We were designing an office for a major law firm, occupying an entire floor with a stunning view. The project was 90% complete when, one morning, I recalled my favorite movie and felt inspired to shift the concept. I proposed incorporating elements from the film to the client, who embraced the idea."
General concept
A key challenge was a movable wall with gypsum molding, reminiscent of the film’s transforming figures, symbolizing the conflict between high emotions and base instincts. I love blending contrasts—classic elements with raw concrete, just as we did in a jewelry store project, where delicate pieces shone against rough stone and charred wood. Beauty is heightened when juxtaposed with raw, natural textures."
"This is my design philosophy: merging opposites to create unexpected beauty."
Main office
The office embodies refined luxury and power. Contrasts define the space—raw concrete meets warm leather tones and metal accents. Minimalist details and carefully selected materials highlight a distinctive balance between classic elegance and modern restraint.
