Villa D
This architectural project is a contemporary take on minimalism — a refined synthesis of pure geometry, noble materials, and seamless integration into the natural landscape.
Inspiration
While developing this villa, studio founder Dinara Yousupova and the team of architects drew upon the philosophy of Frank Lloyd Wright and the California modernist school — a movement that celebrates openness, harmony with nature, and living without visual or spatial barriers between the indoors and the outdoors. The team explored how form, materiality, and terrain could interact in one rhythm — where every volume is not only functional, but deeply emotional.
This project is a celebration of hedonism in the best sense: a place where one finds pleasure not only in nature but also in architecture itself — its aesthetic purity, monumental simplicity, noble textures, and the sculptural elegance of form. It’s not just a house. It’s a villa designed to evoke emotional resonance — where architecture becomes a privilege to inhabit and an object of admiration.
Refined minimalism with structural depth
At first glance, the lines of the house appear simple — but behind this minimalist form lies a highly sophisticated architectural structure: cantilevered volumes, concealed load-bearing elements, and large-scale energy-efficient glazing with ultra-slim profiles. Every decision is made to evoke a sense of lightness, openness, and deep integration with the landscape — while maintaining a grounded, monolithic presence.
The façades are clad in metal and travertine — a combination that conveys both restraint and quiet strength. These materials are not only durable but tactilely expressive, offering an honest interaction between space and the people inhabiting it.
Situated on a sloped site, the house required a particularly sensitive architectural approach. Rather than imposing on the terrain, we embraced it — allowing the natural topography to shape the building’s form. Volumes appear suspended over stone outcrops, while existing rocks, trees, and gradients are preserved and incorporated into the architectural narrative.
The project features two pools on different levels, each designed for a distinct experience. On the upper level — a spacious swimming pool with an integrated jacuzzi for immersive relaxation. Below — a lounge pool with a sunken seating area wrapped around a firepit, complete with soft sofas. This tiered zoning creates multiple outdoor scenarios, allowing residents to enjoy nature and leisure in seamless harmony.
Contemporary minimalism: simplicity that serves depth
Minimalism in architecture is about the honesty of form and purposeful functionality, free from excess. Its strength lies in creating a space where every detail is intentional, and nothing distracts from what truly matters: nature, light, and a profound sense of calm. For those who inhabit such a space, it means less visual noise, more inner balance, and a subtle yet empowering sense of control.
